This was a commission project for a customer of mine. I remodeled a garage into a family room and added a new two car garage. the family room was 21’ by 24’, the wall the book cases were added to was 21’. the 6 door bases were constructed as one unit 101” long x 20” deep and 32” high. The book cases were made as 1 unit also 101” long 14” deep w/ an 18” center offset and 63” high, I constructed them as single units to conserve materials, and keep costs lower. The construction materials were all Oak, I made all the trim, Used plywood for all cabinet boxes, and faced with solid oak. Construction was approx. 6 weeks to complete and install. The customer wanted to utilize electrical outlets that were enclosed with install. I added to bookshelf bases an electrical pull out that allowed for a surge strip with 6 outlets, I hid it in the center 4” offset. It was stained Early American with a Satin Lacquer finish. A very close match to the trim and hardwood floor.

Great work Marty. I’ve been trying to convince the wife for a while that building new storage is a much better solution to my book troubles than simply buying less books. I’m going to have to show this to her for an example of what’s possible.
