I made this fantastic project in my school wood class at Wahoo Public Schools. It is a end grain cutting bored that took us roughly a month for the hole class to complete. I used two different types of wood, Maple and Walnut, to attempt a checkered bored pattern. I used hardwood so I covered it in 4 coats of mineral oil.

I like the pattern. You did a good job. The thin Walnut St rips give shadow and a 3-D effect. I will have to try that.
