It started with some cedar I got from my parents, it used to be drawer liners. I wanted to make something from it but I wasn’t getting any ideas.
Then one day at work I was walking past the scrap box and I noticed this piece of maple with a knot right in the center. Suddenly I remembered the contest and the cedar at home, and the box formed in my mind.
It was a good experience working with cedar, and lucky me I have more to make something else from it.

That piece has character plus…a great choice of wood and features for this box…

Beautiful Box!
I love the way you off set the knot to one side and the use of walnut to add to the contrasts of light and dark!
Good Luck in the contest.

Beautiful box and detail! Question – are the border trims all around the box inlays or did you edge all the pieces before assembling?

this is gorgeous.
Does the knot look like a ballerina? Or is it just from my perspective.
