This was my second bowl out of ambrosia maple. The first peice turned very quickly and I had very little problems. This peice however had a few problems…It was soaking wet! I don’t have a lot of experience turning as I’ve only had my lathe for about 5 months and 2 of those monthe I had a bunch of metal pins going through my left arm and hand so turning was a little difficult. The water in this bowl was actually forced out as the lathe turned the peice. I ended up rough turning it and then set it aside wrapped in newspaper for about 4 weeks and it dried very rapidly and ended up turning out very nice.

Beautiful bowl Steffen! I do love that Ambrosia Maple. What kind of lathe do you turn on? Where are you from?

That’s my favorite out of the bunch. I like the fineal on the lid. Keep posting!

Stephen: Great bowel. I think that one where the lid and bowl were from the same block of wood and where there was a piece of the color was present in both pieces so that you could see the continuity would really make a superb combination.

Very, very cool Stephen, I love the spalting in the wood. You hardly have to do anything to it after you take it off the lathe. Beautiful. Corbin says he likes it too. my grandson. mike
