Oak Bike Basket

Bicycle handlebar basket made of leftovers from my daughter’s recent pallet projects (see my other project posts). The wood was very straight grained and rock hard. It cleaned up beautifully on the planer and jointer.

The basket is 4” x 4” x 8” to hold my sunglasses, phone, and a water bottle. I think it goes well with my 40+ year old JC Penney cruiser bike. Fun weekend project.

very nice. I saw some wooden bicycle baskets while visiting in the Netherlands last year and the idea appeals to me.

I love it, that’s a woodworkers bicycle basket.

Not to knock your project, it’s really nice, and I want to make one of these eventually for my bike. I would have made it from thinner materials, since I ride some hills where I live that I actually have to walk my 24-speed bike up them. Maybe it’s just because I’m a semi-old man at 62, I dunno.

Great idea, as someone has said. it wouold go great with a wooden bike. I seen something lately about bikes made from bamboo. I use an old bike with a motor i installed, I love it and sure brings life to an old bike and an old man excelant bike motors, mad in china. Check them out..
