Project Information

Client wanted their baby grand turned into a writing desk for tutoring. Trimmed off the "Baldwin" veneer and re-applied to the walnut-faced drawer. Turned out great. I think they will be pleased. Legs are attached to large wooden blocks that are bolted down with thread inserts on the underside of the top. This was my first attempt making a dovetailed drawer. Had some guidance from a dear friend. That made all the difference.

Tesla,

I love what you did with that piano. It looks a lot like my 1927 Baldwin Howard grand, but I'm not ready to give it up quite yet. I had it rebuilt 34 years ago and it still plays beautifully.

As it turns out, I am also building a piano desk for my daughter, albeit, from scratch. I'll post when I'm finished with it. I'm design still in phase. I do intend to embed a high end electronic piano inside. So, I'll need to rethink the concept of standard drawers.

Very cool, free worn out upright pianos seem to be overflowing on craigslist now. I've seen a couple projects here using old piano's. I like the re-use mentality instead of sending them to the landfill.
