This is my first successful bowl attempt, it is made of 4 planks of walnut laminated face to face with regular wood glue. The finish is shellawax I believe, I just remember burning in the coats. It was turned on a jet midi lathe (wrong tool for the job) in my high school wood shop class with terrible school-style lathe tool but I think it turned out well. My favorite part about it is the “flash” that occurs when it is turned as the edge grain reflects more light than the end grain.
P.S. I am sorry about the quality of the pictures :(

thanks everybody, my shop teacher has been procrastinating fixing our big lathe and so I haven’t had anything to work on (for the last 4 months). This is just the positive reinforcement I needed to get through the remaining days with out the lathe.

Great first attempt. Most turners don’t get to bowls until they have several spindle turnings under their belt.
One idea for you when laminating pieces like that. If you want to disguise the glue joint just add a bead, grove, or other decorative element on the joint and it will disappear.

Nice job buddy, if that’s your first bowl you have a bright future on the lathe. Best of luck.
