These are 2 of the 4 trivets I made for Christmas presents this past year. The plan was from Woodworking Magazine (http://popularwoodworking.com/article/tile_trivet)
I’d picked up the tiles over a year ago during a trip to Banff. The wood is all QSWO and finished with BLO and amber shellac. The top has BLO + amber shellac + dewaxed shellac + Arm-R-Seal satin. The finish was rubbed out with steel wool and wax. I cut it close and finished the last 2 on Christmas Eve :)
The pictures aren’t the best as I had little time to take the photos before wrapping them. That and my camera has started to go.

They turned out really nice. The finish really makes the grain stand out on the QS Oak.
