Quarter Sawn Murphy Bed

This bed was completed on 01-21-2009. I call it the Euro Murphy Bed because of it’s European styling, its clean lines and contemporary look. It seems lately this has been the most popular Murphy bed (see my last post).

There are a few things that set this apart form the others. First of all the quarter sawn oak. I love the look of this wood. I’ve only had a few opportunities to use it, but it is quickly becoming my favorite. Another change from the others are the doors. I extended this door all the way down to meet drawer and didn’t leave an open section as I usually do. Since this made the door over 48” I added an extra rail for support. The door glass used on this one is different also. It is called Rain. Normally I use a window film on the glass, but this has proved to be very time consuming. Even though this glass is more expensive, it is cheaper in the long run. The last change was the laptop tray. The customer will be using this as a vanity, so instead of the laptop tray, I added a drawer.
