jeffthewoodwacker, Wow! What a gorgeous vase. The figure in the wood is just breath taking. I love the symmetry incorporated in this piece, the flaired tulip lip on the top is beautiful. Nice contrasting with the walnut finial and that finish certainly does the wood justice. Is that considered spalting in the sugar maple, or just the natural differenecs in heart and sapwood? Really excellent figuring what ever causes it. Congratulations on a real work of art.

It doesn’t even look like wood…except for the finial. It looks like some kind of stone…truly beautiful…and exceptional turning.

The Ambrosia Beetles left a great design in the wood and you were able to improve upon what nature hath wrought.
