You might look into getting some heavyduty file slides for the two file drawers. They can get pretty heavy when full. Beautiful project. I’d be very proud!

Dave13,
Such a great looking desk, especially for a first real project! I sure wish my first project had turned out as well. I can’t even remember my first real project-LOL. I really like the Oak as a choice of wood as well it has such a strong grained look about it, speaking of years and years of use ahead. Keep up the great work.
Sincerely,
Ken McGinnis

You should be very proud of it…and you’re getting a great start very early in life in creating beautiful and useful things from wood. A fine, fine desk.

Dave you did a good job, remember David J. Marks (www.djmarks.com) started out tearing down chicken coops and using the wood to build boxes to sell on the side of the road. And in closing CharlieM has a great quote on his signature line. A great quote to live by. Believe me, starting out I have built alot of firewood.

Listen young man I an nearly 150 years old and cannot do work like you can.Seriously it’s wonderful as a father of three sons myself to finally prove the point that most young people are just great we don’t get to hear about the great and highly gifted guys like you often enough in the media. But I tell you you are one talented young man and were do you go from here you could do anything with the talent you have even if you got a little help here and there as we all do on every project I say your an asset to this world and a source of inspiration to even those like me well not quite 150 yet but still got a lot to learn from gentlemen like your self God Bless you and we will watch your progress with pride.very kindest regards Alistair

Waaaaaaaaaaay better than the shop class pen and pencil holder or notepad holder! 8^)
Nice work! You did a nice job on a complex project. Few 15 year old people would stick it out, so good on ya’! Are you thinking of pursuing a craft? You show lots of promise.

I don’t think I will be a craftsman, rather a doctor. But that doesn’t mean that I won’t make more projects!

Good job. I am a woodworking instructor at a high school in the St Louis area. I try to instill into my students, attention to detail and accuracy. Building that many drawers, the accuracy had to be there to make them all work correctly. The attention to detail is good also with the flat panel pedastal sides. Even doing the insides where most would have saved money and time by making them flat 3/4 plywood. How does the back look? Did you finish it so the desk could sit in the middle of the room, or does it have to go against the wall.
all in all good job and good luck in your future choices and projects.

Dave the person named Glock who posted is a woodworking instructor that has taught woods since 1972 where I taught for 32 years whose opinion I regard highly. He really likes your work and that’s a bug plus in my book. Thanks for showing me your project yesterday.

I made it so you could have it in the middle of the room, but it has no ‘modesty’ panel.
