My father had made cradles for the first born of my sibblings and I. They were low to the ground and hooded. My oldest daughter still uses hers for her children. However, now that my second daughter had a baby (my first grand daughter) she wanted a craddle for her. Not wanting a low profile craddle, I decided to go with the pendelum style. I drew the plans myself, and made a template so I can make another for my last daughter, who’s only 19. That craddle needs to wait awhile. College first. The craddle is made out of red oak with a tongue, ureathane, and linseed oil combination.

Its very nice to see your original design and fine workmanship, and welcome to the family. Pull up a stump and sit awhile (just watch out for the fire ants) and by all means bring the kids especially the little cutie.

Nice project. I have 3 beautiful grand daughters – but my FIRST grandson will arrive on 2/11/09!! Can’t wait to get him in the work shop with me (in a few years).
