Me and my buddy made this for his daughter. Used oak ply, solid oak. Banded the exposed edges with solid oak strips. Hinged with a piano hinge. Lid supports installed in the inside to hold it open. Stained with Minwax Colonial Maple, 2 top coats of Minwax poly. She will use it as a toy box for now, but will be a nice hope chest when she is older.
