With all this time off I’ve got to do some smaller projects. Got lots of scrap and spare time. I was raised with a pig board my dad had built in high school woodshop. This is my take on it, a Bear board. I made my wife a large “fancy” cutting board but it never gets used because it is just to large and heavy. The main board is a sapwood cherry. The lightning bolts are made from walnut, heartwood cherry, and purpleheart.

very unique Dennis, maybe you’ve started something for a new design competition, “The-not-your-normal-cutting board” here at LJ.

I don’t want Dennis getting wired into the SW folks… take all my business away… It’s hard times… :-)
Dennis, nice job man. Very sweetly made.

Dennis, I must admit I’m pretty sick of looking at cutting boards, but this one is one is great! I mean….... it bear-ly even looks like a cutting board.

once again Dennis creates a piece of art! Awesome.
I’m sure there is some Native story being told in the design. I really like it!!

Dennis, this is a unique design and a nice way to use those offcuts they seem to lie around the shop for eons.
Nice job.

Now Dennis can start the whole bear family, and use up more scrap wood. Then there are birds and other animals too….a whole nature scene

That’s right Bill. I’ll call it the Goldilocks collection. This cutting board is too small, this one is tooooo big….
Thanks for your comments!

May be a cutting board Dennis – but it sure is a different one – great job!! You have snow out North of Jerome, heck we are in the sun belt South of town – been in the mid 30’s – maybe I can send you some sun shine tomorrow.

Hi Dennis;
Nice looking job.
Maybe you have found your niche market.
There are some people who would pay dearly for things like that.

Well I don’t know how you managed to shuffle the pieces and “bearly” upset the grain pattern in the Cherry…Still scratching my head over that one . I’ve got to compliment you on your photography skills as much as your craftsmanship on this project : ) They are both excellent ! How big is this critter anyway ? And the finish is ??
