Got new kits from Woodturningz January Sale. If you haven’t already checked it out, do so today. It ends tonight at 5p EST.
The Corian came from a box of cut-offs that I bought on ebay. Great selection, and this one was my trial. Love the heft and finish possible with Corian, but damn if it doesn’t chew up my chisels!! I had to sharpen and strop my gouge at least 10 times to complete this pen. Any suggestions on tools for this material?
Finished with Micro Mesh to 6000 grit, then Renaissance Wax to avoid swirls and fingerprints.
It’s pretty heavy, great fit in my hand, and looks great with the Antique Brass finish on the kit. I did have a blow-out on the lathe with the lower portion, but i closed it up nicely with CA. It would be tough to see if you weren’t really looking.

Thanks for the comments. I ended up giving this pen as a gift when I visited a friend for dinner. The Corian nearly perfectly matched his new Marble counter tops, so I couldn’t resist. Can’t see the pen sitting on the counter!!
