The latest addition to the shop has been a drill press. I needed someplace to put it which had storage space and was movable. This is my solution.

3/4 plywood and a 1/2 inch plywood back and drawer boxes. The top is covered with hardboard which is not attached. It fits tight in the band around it so that it won’t come out. Using a shopvac you can lift it if it ever needs replaced.

Also, the edge band around the top is held up about 1/16 above the top of the hard board. That way drill bits won’t roll off into the floor.

The drawer pulls were made in the shop from stock found in my father-in-law’s shop after he passed away.

If I had it to do over I would have done 5 drawers instead of 4. My being a cheapskate means I have drawers that are too deep for small things and not deep enough for big things.

The stand looks great. I was wondering, what do you think of the Wen drill press?

Thanks Chip,

As for the drill press it is my first so not much to comair it to. It is well made and solid. It set up easily and was dead on right from the box. Only down side I see is the depth guide is curced at the bottom which makes it hard to use.
$290 including shipping so I was happy with the price. NOT happy withh Amazon. Home Depot had the same deal arrive in 7 to 10 days. Amazon said 4 to 10 days. Amazon didn’t bother to shop it till the 7th day.
