Joe that is really sweeet. I love the grain in this and how it circumscribes the vase. Great job.

Thanks for posting it.

Beautiful grain and excellent form, as always. It would be interesting to see the initial block of wood before you turn, so we can really appreciate your final product all the more.

Great job, Joe. This is my personal favorite simply because I must publicly confess to an ongoing affair with cherry (but please don’t tell my wife). :)

You did bring out the inner beauty of the wood with this one and the finish does it justice as well. Cherry is such a beautiful and warm wood that it really does not need anything other than a clear finish.

Nice job and nice photography as well.

Hi Joe;

This is a great turning. Exquisite job.

What brand of turning tool are you using?

I love how the grain runs around in circles on this one.

Just exquisite Joe, the lines and curves are just beautiful. The grain runs true to end grain turning. I’m doing a green apple end grain with my termite and forgot how much fun it was to have those long whisps of wood fly off the piece. Love your piece again, like always, it does outdo the last. buds, mike

Les, I am using the Trent Bosch hollowing tools.

Thanks for all the kind remarks, I appreciate them all. This was a quick, transitional piece in a series. I am trying to refine my shape in search of the “perfect” flow and form – if it there is such a thing. If you look at Amber and Antigua on my project page, you can see the transition and refinements. I have a piece of figured maple on the lathe now that hopefully is the best one – yet.
