I just completed a sofa table. It is curly walnut with a hand-rubbed oil finish to match a coffee table I made for the living room from a highly figured piece of crotch walnut. I’m not sure if the photos do it justice as I had to use the low light setting without a flash to avoid nasty reflections. I tried to create the effect that the top is floating above the table legs and apron.
All of the joinery was hand-cut and every surface was finished with hand tools including planes, rasps, and a scraper. The legs are attached to the front and rear aprons with simple saddle joints reinforced with walnut dowels. The front and rear aprons are joined to the stretchers with sliding dovetails.
Thanks for looking,
