Clay project

Project by Cathy Krumrei posted 310 days ago 219 views 1 time favorited 8 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Since I am unable to work with my wood tools, for my hand therapy, I have been playing around with clay. I’m going crazy without something to do. So here is some pics of my clay project. I didn’t draw a pattern, just had “bird” in my head. I just did played till I liked it. Hope you like it too.

Hi Krum, Great project buddy, you have great talent, this is real good but don’t forget the wood you have waiting for you. “Bird in the head eh” BSG,

Great looking piece!

Sometime back I had to take an “arts class” to complete some degree work. I took a pottery class. I have to tell you that if I hadn’t already collected most of my woodworking tool, I could have easily made that my hobby of choice. There is something very satisfying about creating items in clay. It is almost as instantly gratifying as lathe work and if you don’t like it you can start over- no burning the mistakes!

Cathy,

I certainly wish I had in my head what you have in yours, and could “play” as well as you do. Great piece!

Nice work, and I hope that whatever is wrong with your hands will get better soon.

Thanks all for looking and the comments. I’m the type of person that needs to be doing something-besides cleaning house that is..after carpel tunnel surgery in Oct I ended up with nerve damage in both hands. One bad thing to another. I am just grateful I am finally getting the help I need to get my hands to work without constant pain. So using the clay after about a month of therapy has been good for my hands and a great way to enjoy creating. Still some time before I can get back to using my tools and lathe. But I will! Glad you enjoyed my clay project and I know this isn’t “wood” but it’s all that I can offer for now. I did see a pottery wheel…but I don’t plan on staying with the clay, just until I can really get back to what I love to do-working with wood.
