My version of the project stays close to the inspiration project, relying on variations in the specified species as well as some rounding of the outer parts of the breadboard ends. I used African Mahogany for the top, aprons, stretchers, and shelf; Santos Mahogany for the legs and breadboards; and Shedua (Africa) for the pillowed pegs. Because I will use the table for a specific purpose in my home I wanted to stay close to the Greene brothers design vocabulary which I felt the Popwood editor has done in adapting the Thorsen house plant stand for this challenge01 purpose.
Finishing consists of Varathane Red Mahogany stain, General Finishes Seal-A Cell clear, and several coats of their Arm-R-Seal oil and Urethane top coat, the last coat a Semi gloss. It has been fun and I am looking forward to several other projects fron the Greene and Greene repertoire.

Great looking wood and finish. Your table turned out really nice and looks great in your home. Fine Woodworking can have quite an article and spread with all the wonderful tables being turned out by the LumberJocks.

Beautiful entry.
I love the grain figure in the top, & the whole table looks much better than the PW rendition.

I’ve seen a lot of these entries and I think you found the best species/finish combination. the grain looks great. The craftmenship is great, but the lumber and finish set it apart. I am trying to develop my finishing skills and have been trying several species/finish combos. I’ll have to add this one to my list.

Thanks all for the kind comments. It is pleasing to read them even though one always suspects a little smoke is blowin’ in the wind, perhaps to encourage a forum newbie. Nevertheless, again thanks so very much for all the kind thoughts.
