The board is constructed of 100% recycled redwood from a 100 year old redwood pipe (8’ diameter) that deverted water from the Rogue river to a power plant. It is sealed inside and out with epoxy with 4 0z cloth on the top and bottom. The final finish is an automotive clear coat to give it additional uv protection. The surfboards dimension are 9’x22 1/2”x2 3/4”. It was made entirely from 5 -1 1/2” x 5”x 10’ boards resawn to desiired thickness for internal framework ,skin, rails .fins… It is a relatively light board exteremly stong and the redwood is beautifull. The board was designed on a computer ,the program provided me printable stations for each foot of the board Ithese were printed cut out and glued to resawn boards and cut out on the band saw.

That’s a great looking project. Did you wing it, find plans somewhere, or have you built other surfboards and already knew what you were doing. That’s one of the projects on my long-term want-to-do list.
Great looking overhead rider!

Wow! That is the surfboard equivalent of a “show car”.

Very cool. Have you made these before?
Flashback: In middle school wood shop I made two skimboards. Nothing like this though.
Great work.

Amazing… I always wondered how those are made. Where did you get you inspiration for building it? Any other builders that showed you what products to use?

That is just too nice to ride. That is still considered a ‘long board’
I had a 9’2” Wardy. I still have my skim board and tried it again last year and completely embarassed myself.
Beautiful, beautiful. But still too nice to ride.

That is one awesome board, Dude! How many hours did you have to put into it? Looks like some very meticulous work involved.

JCS…that is da kine…. I’m planning on attempting it myself some day. I’m going to build a small yacht though for a standup paddleboard…12’-0” x 33” x5”. Is that a vent plug I see on the nose? I know you need one on a wood board. I was looking at building a kit from the guys at Grain. http://www.grainsurfboards.com/ but may just wing it myself given your inspiration. Any tips on construction?....how about a blog on the whole process…..:)
I’m just starting a SUP paddle for my brother similar to a Whiskey Jacks….(I hope).

Since you’re obviously a surfer you might find my brothers Maui watersports blog interesting. http://www.ponohouse.com/ponoblog/ . Lot’s of stuff on SUP, surfing, windsurfing, diving, etc..
