Tiger Maple box with the router design. I used a bit of Transtint Red dye on the end but my dye skills came out better on my test scraps than they did on the box.
Approximately 6×4x4”

Really nice look to it. The eye of the sun. Great design.

Thanks guys…just havin fun…!
Roman….just look at it as an experiment and if it works…fine…If it doesn’t work then it is a good learning experience and move on to the next one…its only wood and it grows on trees…

I bought 6 bottles of TransTint Dyes and keep playing with them to see if I can learn a thing or two

Thanks Monte…I have 6 or 7 shows coming up so I am definitely stocking up. Some shows are fantastic and some are so-so.

Love all your new boxes, but I really like this dyed one!

Klaus…it is interesting because I can make 6 or 8 of these boxes in about the same time it takes to make a detailed sculpted one…it will be interesting to see how they do at the shows. the Leopardwood one is already gone and the finish was hardly dry. I make it a point to email photos of new work to my existing customers, as well as email addresses of people who were interested at shows enough to write down their email.

Mean Dean….thanks..I really am working on improving the dyes and using them tastefully and as accents. The photo makes it look darker than it is in some spots…but it is still needin improvement. Using dyes if fairly new to me

Nice accent—really adds to a fine piece.

Greg, I like the spiderweb effect on these and the dye adds interest. I still think there should be a spider in the corner :)
