This is just a simple corner shelf to add to our kitchen. Very simple but turned out pretty well. I completed this project I believe either in 2002 or 2003.

Jack,

That is a really nice project. Corner shelves, like this one, add a nice touch to any room. And you did a nice job on the design and construction. What wood(s) did you use in the construction and how did you finish it?

By the way this looks a lot like my first project that I attempted to build. I built one out of cherry (as part of a woodworking course) that eventually found its best use as a planter stand on our deck. :) Needless to say my technique has improved markedly since then.

Thanks Scott. It is made of Ponderosa Pine. I originally intended to put doors on it and make sort of a cupboard, but changed my mind in mid-stream because my wife wanted something for display. So I just layed out the curves on the front and left it open. I used a gel stain, but I can’t remember what flavor…it’s been several years ago since I made this piece. Thanks for the comment.
