A good friend of mine asked if I could make him a “simple” folding comb now that he’s growing his beard again after getting out of the Army recently.
I thought about trying one of these in the past, and I just finished up a HUGE project so I jumped at the opportunity for a smaller challenge.
The comb part was done with my laser cutter and the rest on my scrollsaw and belt sander.
Pic six shows how the thing was built and stacked together.
All pieces are solid Hickory, planed down to about 1/8” thick. The tines are incredibly strong – surprisingly so!
Hand sanded up to 400 grit and then I rubbed in some “Manly” soap (Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA Soap given to me recently) for lubrication and shine. Smells great! :-)
Overall, the piece is about five inches long by an inch wide – it works splendidly!
The graphic on the outside of the case was chosen by my friend – my brand was etched on the comb’s handle.
