My client asked me to design a cabinet for their bedroom that would take the place of her husbands chest of drawers in the corner that had a television sitting on it.
In addition to a build in set of drawers in the base, I designed it to contain the TV in the top section with retractable doors that could be closed when not in use. It sat in the corner so the four corner cabinets were a bonus to what they had before.
The cabinet was constructed of Honduras Mahogany solid lumber and plywood. The drawer boxes were of Popular.
Two shallow hidden drawers were designed to retract under the lower drawer. They slide in and out on dowel pivots mounted on their back upper corners and are supported by slotted tracks secured to the drawer bottom. The hidden drawers are pushed up, slid back, and then pulled back towards the drawer front. The bottom of the hidden drawers extends 3/8 in an inch in the front and it is that extension that locks into a stop dado cut into the bottom back of the lower drawer front.
Actual color of the finished piece is very close to the photo shot in the shop. Thoses taken at their house depicts way to much red.

Soweet! Very nice! They must have been in awe? Is there any stain on that or just some clear?

The stain was Mohawks “Dark Red Mahogany Penetrating Oil Stain”. The name is somewhat misleading since I don’t think there was any oil in it. Ultra penetrating and VERY fast drying.

Outstanding. Looks very similar to one I plan to start building myself.
