Desktop pen holder / picture frame

First one is a figured Mahogany, second is Cocobolo with crushed mother of pearl/epoxy inlay. thanks to my wife for carving the inlay. I like the look sapwood adds on the cocobolo; every asks if it is a secondary piece glued to it. We ended up putting family pictures in the digital picture frame and giving them away as gifts.

These are very cool. I agree that on the second one I really like the sapwood contrasting with the rest of the piece and the inlay if very nice.

Now I have to say that the first one isn’t as fancy but I really like it. In fact, when I first saw the picture of it on the project gallery and glimpsed at the shape of it, I thought its was a wooden handplane shape with photos in it. That may be something I have to look into at some point.
