This is a jewelry box that I made for my mother for christmas. It’s Birdseye maple with steamed cherry accents.

Are those machine cut miters at the box cor? Did you clean them up with hand tools?

Thanks. Yes, there was a jig for the box corners in the plan for the box. Made it then ran it through the tablesaw. I didn’t need to use any hand tools.

This is a really nice box. Maple and cherry are my favorite wood combination. I think that the maple is especially gorgeous.

Very nice. I am sure that your mother enjoyed getting this as a gift.

Thank you, I finished it by first rubbing it with boiled linseed oil then letting it sit for a week. Then I sprayed it with satin lacquer. The linseed oil really highlighted the eyes and figure in the maple
