Another ball winder, perfect for the yarn spinner, knitter, or crocheter. This one crafted from a single piece of purpleheart. I am producing these for my wife’s Etsy Online Store.

Does the density/hardness of the wood affect the way these work?

Thanks lew. Actually, I don’t believe the density really affects the working of the tool at all. The reason I am using harder woods is because of their warmer character, and durability. Also, with hardwoods, I can campaign the wife for a sharpening jig or system sooner. Can’t turn with dull tools, after all!

looks great… love the purple heart wood… tough to work with though…
