My mother-in-law turned 60 yesterday, and my wife asked me to make her a pencil holder. She’s a receptionist/office manager for a dentist, and this would be useful and look nice in her office.
Mahogany and Cherry, finished with 2 coats wipe-on Danish oil, then 4 coats wipe-on oil based poly, then 1 coat renaissance wax.
Can you tell I don’t have an HVLP sprayer, and I don’t like brushing finishes? The oil-based wipe on poly is smooth like glass.
They really like the burned-in name on the bottom.

This is a very nice design. I’ve been thinking of designing something to keep my hair accessories in and this would work very well. :) I’m sure she loves it!

I really like the finish, you don’t need the HVLP sprayer.

Simple and straightforward design, but beautifully done!
