Though it took only about 40 hours in total to complete, after almost a year I finally finished this Craftsman Style Coffee Table!
This was definitely a labor of love. There were so many new techiques that I learned with this project; mortise and tenon joints, table top buttons, finishing, etc. as well as my research led me to better understanding of wood movement, the Arts and Crafts movement and a whole lot more!
The wood (Red Oak) originally came from our church. It was moving so I bought two of the church pews. (How could I curse this project?! :)) The design, though basic, came as a culmination from several sources. It is finished with Flecto Varathane Golden Mahogany stain and MinWax Wipe-On Poly.
This is part one of a four piece set that will include two end tables and a sofa table. I promised the ‘boss’ that the next pieces won’t take as long! :)
