I was inspired by Dusty56's weather station and he was kind enough to encourage me to try this fun project myself! With his advice I immediately ordered the kit from WoodCraft. I made the weather station for my mother who is an avid weather watcher. Just today she informed me that the temperature outside was a brisk -7 degrees!
The project was simple and straight forward~although I worried through every step that I would break the glass “Galileo thermometer”. I matched the finish to a small antique clock my mother has always loved.

Glad to see that you finally got her done ! It came out just fine and I hope that you enjoyed building this for your Mom as much as I did for my Dad : )
Happy New Year to all of you !

Thanks, guys! I did enjoy myself during this project. Much more so than my father’s gift (music stand) which was way to intense for my liking. Still both parents seemed more than pleased. And my brother (who received matching end tables) asked, “When did you turn into Norm Abrahms?” I prefer to think that he was complimenting my woodworking and not comparing our good looks! LOL.

Looks good, and it looks like the recipient is delighted.
