More smaller things

These are a few other small things I have done. My house is small, but I don’t think I’ll ever run out of room for furniture or shelves.

Dusty, thanks for all the comments. Still don’t feel like I belong on this site. Everyone else’s stuff is so professional. I didnt make the jewerly box that stands on the floor, but I did do the smaller one on the dresser and yes they are both filled. I do love painting too, even though everything I paint is on wood, I didnt think the woodjocks would appreciate seeing those. Actuallly, I do paint floor cloths too. I’m hoping to start up a business soon doing that. I’m gonna try anyway. Your work is very nice too. I do know how to join wood but what you and others do looks so hard.

First time hearing the term “floor cloth” for me …can you give me a brief history ? Good luck with your business adventure : ) Keep on posting your projects and we’ll keep looking at them and commenting for sure.

Hi Roman, thanks for commenting. Floor clothes are painted rugs. You paint on canvass and after that you use finish them like you would hardwood floors. Varnish them. To clean them you just mop. They have been around for centuries. Even the people that had dirt floors, painted old sail cloths and used that for their floors. They are seen alot in the Colonial and primitive style homes. I looked at your projects and they are great. I love the kind of work you do.

Hi Dusty,
Thanks again for your compliments. You wanted to know about floor cloths. They are painted rugs on canvass. You stretch out the canvass on a frame and prime it, then paint it. After that you varnish it and this things hold up for years. In fact I have one at the river that was on the floor when the cabin was flooded this year. I took it outside and hosed it off and it’s just fine. They’re great, all you have to do is mop them. I found some pretty neat websites that carry them. If your really interest, check out design village floorcloths. She does a great job with them and does alot of the histroic designs. Of course you can paint anything on them. The one at the river has a border with fishing lures and bobbers.
