Cabin Kitchen Cabinets 08

Project by janice posted 175 days ago 545 views 0 times favorited 6 comments Add to Favorites Watch

We had a rough year this year. The flood in March blew the levee out where we drive over to get to our cabin. Had to walk in alot or go in by boat when we had high water. The wall cabinets were in before the flood and hung. The base cabinets we had to boat in. In these pictures they werent install yet, just sitting there, but we got them out of my little basement and to the cabin, thanks to my husband.

It is if you like the river life. My dad built it 50 or so years ago and gave it to me, a few years back, because he knew i would take care of it. He built it with oak and it was all tung and grove, all around. Held up thru many floods. In 93 the water was up to the ceiling. We built the room addiition, higher. My husband wants to tear down the old cabin and go higher with it , I wont let him. Not just yet anyway. Too many memories there. It’s still standing, why get rid of it? I can’t yet.

I suppose the “river” is the Mississippi?

My dad is from Cairo, IL where the Mississippi & Ohio meet, and I’ve spent my whole life on the southern end of the river here in New Orleans.

Thanks everyone. Your right this site is addicting. Just don’t have enough time to look at everyone’s projects yet. No, it’s the Gasconade River, just alittle outside of Hermann. A much smaller river than the Missouri or Mississippi. Perfect for boats, fishing, swimming, or just laying on a raft. We are about 2 miles from the Missouri River though, so we kind of have the best of both worlds.
