what comes around.....

I made this coffee table for my ex-wifes sister a few years ago. It so happens that she married my brother and had 2 little girls. She was afraid that the little tiny 15 lb girls (probably heavier but come on) were going to fall through the 1/2” tempered smoked glass and there was no reasoning. So she forced him to put it into storage. Well they are now divorced, he moved to South Carolina, and I kept the table. So, long story short, I apparently built myself a table a few years ago out of maple and inlayed a walnut band under the glass as well as on the carving. The carving is actually a design of a cartouche but i figured it would work as an apron with a few adjustments. It’s not spectacular but its the one and only table I’ve made with a carving on it. All criticism is welcome.

No critique here. One of the nicest tables I’ve ever seen. She was over reactive. She missed years of enjoyment. Lucky you! You got it back! Great idea and design, masterful execution. A real treasure.

You may have lost a sister in law, but hey, you still have your brother and one helluva nice looking table. You and your brother can sit around and swap war stories.

What a neat looking coffee table. I love it. You did a great job and it’s great you have it and not her. Seems a bunch of us went through this same experience.

I think you are the winner in this situation, great table.

I’m with Charlie M, I really think there is a country song in this: “Who’s going to take your table out when I’ve packed my bags and gone??” :)

Nice repossession! I really like the carving idea. Very nice combination of modern and traditional elements.

You called it a table. Was it supposed to be a changing table? I’m missing something here. Why not train a child that a table is used to sit at—not on. Oh, well, the out-of-control kids did work out to your benefit. :-)

How about a T-Shirt that says …
