Log bed

Here’s a bed I made for my nephew a few years ago. It’s a cowboy room! (inside joke).
It’s made with a mixture of oak and cedar logs I had laying around. I invested in tenon makers for this project…what a difference over a pocketknife and drawknife! I lightly sanded and sprayed with urethane.

I’m always amazed at this kind of furniture…rustic, practical and well-conceived…plus the beauty of wood…

Very Nice! Just out of curiosity how much does it weigh?

This one doesn’t weigh all that much..probably 125# each for headboard and footboard.

Thanks DocT for answering that. I have been thinking of making a Queen size out of cedar. It would be much heavier I am sure. Either way you did a wonderful job on this. I bet your nephew is really proud of this bed.

Great job, love that natural look especially the fork in the headboard. I know it’s not as easy as some would think to make a piece flow so naturally.
I have been working rustic furniture for only two years now and I just can’t get enough.
