Fell in love when winter Olympics were held in Sarajevo and everywhere people were riding KICKSLEDS. Never saw one before. I live in Minnesota on a lake.
One sled has recycled cross-country skis for riding in snowy conditions. The other has steel runners for use on ice – perfect for on the lake.
Seat and supports – more of my oak. Handholds were cut from a balustrade. All parts held with wingnuts to allow sleds to fold flat for transport or storage. Notice the footpads welded on top of steel runners.
Never carried passenger – but – have carried many (caught) fish!
Bought skis for $1 at garage sale – bought steel at foundry. All wood parts sealed with spar varnish. Don’t cross-country ski – so don’t know if skis should be waxed occasionally. They are not wooden. Any suggestions?
