Here is a preview of the table I am entering into the contest for a “Knot like no Other and the Secret Compartment” contest. I am still in the process of final build and finishing (natural / wax). The secret compartment will be revealed later but the “knot theme” is in the burl. The pictures are hard to see but the dark figures in the wood is all knots, I will try to pull out a better picture tonight so you can see. The weather is turning worse so this wil only delay things but I anticipate being finished before the deadlines. I hope you like it. I have documented the entire build and will post once completed. The table is made out of white oak, Ash (secondary wood), and mappa burl.

I’m not sure where the knot figures in yet, but that sure is one heckuva fine looking table!

The table gives your eye places to roam. First the legs, you look at them and study the shape and the lines than you see the bottom of the leg has been worked as well. Than you look at the number of lines in the leg and think that’s not easy to do. Than you look at the top with the center figured wood, you compare that to the draw fronts. Than you see the emblem on the front. This could go on and on.
The design is a basis one but you have given a reason to look at it again and again and again.

That’s one distinguishing looking table. Fine! I agree with Dominic about how the eye keeps finding interesting things to see. Super!

I added a better close up of the drawer. Hope this helps.
