Toy Box

Project by Timmah posted 176 days ago 422 views 1 time favorited 11 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This is a toy box I made for my daughters room. It is made of clear pine with 1/4” oak plywood lining the inside. Finish is brushed on Minwax stain and clear polyurethane, sanded and recoated about 5 times then rubbed out with wax to get it to shine.

Nice looking box. I like the panel sides.
Is that one brace enough to keep the lid from falling on little fingers?
I have made a half dozen and the falling lid has always been a concern of mine so I over do it with double safety braces.
I have one I made of Myrtlewood I will post soon.

Thanks for the comments. I ended up adding another brace to the other side. It closed a little too fast with the one brace.

Fantastic job. I can only hope the one I’m working on for my grand daughter comes out as well.

Turned out to be very nice toy box. The frame and panel construction adds to the beauty and strength as well.
Great job.

A very nice toy box. Put in a cedar lining and it will become a blanket chest in a few years.
