Apple as in apple wood as in apple wood handles for my chisels. I have had these series 750 Stanley sweetheart chisels for a over a year and they are good chisels except for one thing, the handles. When I first got them I was a little disappointed with the size and shape of the handles, they just didn’t feel good in my hand when using them. I have some carving chisels made my Ashley Iles and those handles I like so I fashioned these new handles out of apple wood and I love how they feel and that translates to better work. I put a high friction polish finish on them and they are silky smooth

Beautifully done. I have just begun to get into hand chisel work as I found a need to cut through-mortises for a project. I have always been a power tool guy but I am quickly becoming enamored with chisels and all the nuances, such as hand sharpening. See my recent post on the gigantic mallet I made to help get through 8/4 QSWO.

Perhaps someday I will make some handles as beautiful as yours….
