I gave this painting to a friend and mentor to hang in his log home. He’s an eccentric, high-end antiques dealer who gave me the initial idea of creating custom caskets using my woodwork and artistic abilities. It hangs at the entrance to his den, a large room with log rafters above, where he’s going to place his own custom casket for a conversation piece when he gets it done.

I love the mountains and paint them more than anything else. The oval matting is part of the acrylic painting. The pine frame is my standard frame for landscapes, a two piece, distressed, antique looking border finished in a mixture of puritan pine and special walnut. The mountain scene comes straight out of my imagination.

You are one talented man Phil. I would love to be able to paint – I have a tough time drawing stickmen though. You always seem to post something interesting, Thanks!

Thanks so much folks. Its funny that when I look at a finished painting I’m in awe that it was really me who did it. I stare at them dumbfounded sometimes, in fact my youngest daughter called me on it. She couldn’t understand why I spent so much time staring at my work, woodworking included. I explained to her that I just couldn’t believe that it was my work. Its a neat experience. I’m sure thankful for the gift.
