I decided to make a Meditation Stool for my Wife for Christmas. It’s made out of Cherry and the sides are 6.5” in the front and 8” in the back and are double mortise & tenon construction with an extra corner support glued into the corners. I think the corner supports are probably overkill as the M&T joints are tight and strong, but I know this will be moved around alot and didn’t want the joint to loosen up over time. The stool is angled so practitioners can sit erect without having to cross their legs. It’s a comfortable supported kneeling position.
I used a bag of mortar as weight for the glue-up and a couple of shop made corner supports to keep the legs at 90 degrees.
Finish is several coats of Cherry Danish oil with wipe on poly to protect.
