Bought this gorgeous piece of Queensland Maple at the Maleny wood show last May.
Approx 20×90 x 900 it was, so in order to get out 4 sides and a top, I had to split it lengthwise.
Since the top had to have a join somewhere, why not pick out some of the prettiest figure, and mosaic it.
Because the bandsaw veered off, and some pieces were thin, the mosaic is stuck to thin plywood.
So the lid needed a border. Off to the timber pile. Hey this “jarrah” (we think it may be something else, but the cabinetmaker who gave it to us calls it jarrah) looks okay with maple. Needs a border at the bottom too.
Dye up some “leatherette” to match the jarrah, and cover the plywood (top and bottom).
This one is not in the give-away pile ( I make many more boxes than are posted).
