Started off making the candle holder in Woodsmith 173 for my wife. When I went to my local sawmill, I found a piece of spalted curly maple, and the project took on a life of it’s own from there. Made primarily using hand tools. Finished with multiple coats of tung oil.

Ed,
That is really a nice candle holder. You may have used the Woodsmith article as an inspiration for the piece but it is a unique design in its own right. I think your design is a nice improvement over the Woodsmith project.
Nice job on using hand tools too, by the way. This is a skill that a lot of us have neglected in our woodworking journeys.
Thanks for the post.
