My wife loves dolls. So for Christmas I found a little porcelain doll that sits on a small wooden swing.
She immediately started asking when I was going to build a display case for it.
After some thought I have two separate ideas for it, and I have yet to completely commit to either one. But I did get the wood for it which you can see in the picture.
Because this is an expensive doll, I am the top and bottom of the display case is being made of two pieces of 1X8 red oak that have been joined together using biscuits. So that I can make the finished dimensions of the project
16 inches X 14 inches. This will allow me to a 1/2 inch clearance between the outer edge of the top and bottom and the Plexiglas that will eventually encase the doll. Yes it is kind of a large doll, so I had to allow for the dress and the fact that she is sitting and not standing.
In any case, as I work on this project and determine how I am actually going to finish it, I will keep you all informed. If I had all the materials, I could actually knock this out in a day or two. But I do not have everything and being unemployed at the moment I can not just jump up and buy things.
For now I will leave it here, and post the picture of the wood to be used.
Regards and keep the sawdust flying!

This looks like the start of a beautiful display case. Can’t wait to see they finished piece.
I admire folks who have the forethought to protect their hobby with display cases. I built model sailing ships since high school and still have them all, but they are inches deep in dust and too fragile now to do anything about it.

So did this project ever see completion? I’d like to see it.
