I made this Toybox from reclaimed redwood. The Lumber was old pickle barrels until I planed and put a little bit of love into it. It took some time, but was worth it.

That looks great! I have a question if you don’t mind. I read many posts from guys who have reclaimed wood with some neat history. Just out of curiosity how did you get old pickle barrels? Is that something that can be purchased or was it a factor of knowing someone? Either way, great work!

That is a nice box and very practical.

Thanks, I buy my lumber from a local guy, who has numerous reclaimed pieces – these happened to be from old pickle barrel staves/vats They were extremely rough when I got them, but underneath, turned out to be great. I was just shocked at the wood color when I got done as there was no finish stain, only lacquer.

Thanks for the comments!
