A Sh$tty b’day gift, I know, but she asked for it. Honest, she did!
It’s made of oak, ash & jatoba and finished with spar varnish. The hinges are wood with brass bolts and it’s held down with carriage bolts topped with brass. The third pic of the hinges was taken before it was finished.

How can you do that and not have to build a dog house to sleep it? With some wives you would be wearing it around your neck! Nice job by the way.

This certainly is a unique present!! Have you thought about putting a motor on it to close the lid? THAT would keep you out of the doghouse for sure. :)
Thanks for the post. I enjoyed this one.

Nice job! This is a gift that surely will be used. I’m wondering if on the hinges you put sleeves in the parts that open or did you smooth out the brass hinge pins to reduce wear?

I think it’s a great gift It always makes it easier when you know what to get someone. Alot of people don’t get what they asked for. I love all the jokes and comments too. You did a great job!
