I BUILT THIS WATER WHEEL, POND AND WATER FALL FOR OUR BACK YARD.

THE WHEEL IS FROM A PATTERN FROM THE WINFIED CATALOG, I TOOK THE PLANS INTO WORK AND REDUCED THEM 1/2.
THE REST OF THE STRUCTURE WAS BUILT ON THE FLY.

IT TOOK TWO WINTERS WORKING ON IT WHENEVER THE MORE IMPORTANT PROJECTS ALLOWED.

AS A BIRD LOVER , MY WIFE LIKES IT BECAUSE THE RUNNING WATER IS A BIRD MAGNET.

THE MATERIALS ARE CEDAR AND POPLAR WITH A HEAVY COAT OF THOMPSONS WATER SEAL.

THE ROOF HAS SIX DIFFERENT SIZES OF HAND SPLIT SHINGLES!!

I swear if you had taken a closeup of this we wouldn’t have known that it wasn’t full scale. This is a really nice project and nicely done.

Wow Ray, this is really something. I especially like the little wagon detail. Terrific work and centerpiece to your backyard. Great project and thanks for sharing it with us.

I really like it…I have a weak spot for well done watergardens and yours is very nice. Makes me want to build another just to do a water wheel. Next to feed nothing attracts the birds like water…put the two together and you have an attraction the birds can’t resist.

Dito! Do you reapply the Thompson’s water seal annually? It’s a beautifully done project.

Hi Ray,

You posted this before I came on board but I am glad it came back up on my list. This is a wonderful project. The details on the water wheel are wonderful. I cannot imagine the patience it took to do the shingling alone much less the rest of the piece.

Thanks for sharing.

After seeing your Gnome door I wanted to see what else you did . All of your projects are really nice, this included. How has this held up to the weather?
