For my niece’s sixteenth birthday I turned her a couple of presents. My mother is giving her a ring with her birthstones set in so I made her a ring holder in walnut for safe keeping.
I must give inspirational credit for the flower and vase to LJ nonickwoods for his recent wonderful project;http://lumberjocks.com/projects/123521. After cobbling together my coping saw to accept the tiny scroll saw blades to create a lot more work for myself I finally picked up a proper fret frame.
A fret board is definitely going to be built soon. I turned the vase from mahogany and the flower is cherry. My first hollowing.
I used carving knives on the petals followed by files to avoid a whole lot of sanding to shape. I made the box from cherry with a walnut finial. A lot of firsts with these and all were great fun. Thanks for looking.
