This hollow form vase is turned from end grain, blistered maple. The grain pattern reminds me of river rock at the bottom the stream I used to play and fish in as a kid. It is 10” tall and 5.5” wide. It is finished with Waterlox. You can view some of the progress pictures here.
All comments and critiques are welcomed and appreciated, That’s how I learn.

One of my favorites Joe, this is really great, your getting so good on these tall deep shapes now. So what would it take to get this out of your hands and into mine? write me direct if your interested. Would look great on one of my tables.

Very nicely done. The Waterlox finish really makes it shine. End grain narrow opening hollow forms are not easy – you have done an outstanding job with this piece.

Haven’t had a chance to do much poking around on the LJs site lately. Extremely nice work. I love working with maple. Most of it is pretty generic wood, but then every once in awhile is a really special tree wth some incredible grain patterns waiting to be uncovered and brought into the daylight.
Keep on turning, Ken

Love the blistered Maple . You’re right about the stream bed look of the “stones” : )
