I took a bowl class at Woodcraft in Woburn, MA with Peter Teubel. It was quite fun. Learned a bit about sharpening too!
Bowl is Hickory. About 5 inches wide.

Nice piece Jon. Is that purpleheart? Maybe walnut with a purple kinda hue from the lighting? Thanks for sharing.

It is just the bad lighting/photo. Bowl is made from Hickory.

I am getting ready to take the same class at Indianapolis Woodcraft. I recently refurbished a Jet1236 lathe to do my turning with. I have been playing mostly, because I don’t really know what I am doing. Great job on this hunk of hickory!
